From the first listen through, 'blue eyeshadow' struck me as a unique release for lux. While her classic techniques were all present, there was a strong emotional element that took me by surprise. Of course, her music has always made us feel things, but here, the vapor legend gives us jams that dig unusually deep into our hearts.

The album is a prime example of her unparalleled ability to nail a vibe. Whether it’s a specific activity (“afternoon swim”), an intangible concept (“psychic bond”) or a cultural reference (“kodak moment”), she captures distinct ideas with a level of skill that few can match. In doing so, she provides the listener with one of vaporwave’s most valuable attributes: The chance to virtually experience events and adventures we may never know in real life.

The emotional range of the record is impressive. The pensive glide of "icy stare" and the uncertain mystique of "empty lobby" help to impart the album with an eerie aura, while the pure serotonin bath of "psychic bond" acts as a euphoric mood booster. Of course, the warmth of "kodak moment" is perhaps the peak of the release's tame serenity.

More than before, it seems that lux is interested in communicating with us. Though she has always been intimate with her grooves, 'blue eyeshadow' feels like a moment of reflection between artist and listener. Not just for us to look within ourselves, but perhaps to reveal a part of herself to us as well.

yes, it's different. but: luxury elite again proves that some vaporwave artists aren't just copy cats using slow-downed music. prism is a good example for (almost?) sample-free compositions and she's done it the professional way. however, personally I prefer the classic vapor – sorry for that.
